I've been thinking out-of-the-circle lately and am happy with the results. Here are two Moonshell necklaces (front and back), inspired by Asian laquerware, that are spatter-painted on one side. I'm using more and more layers of varnish to build up the thickness and increase the depth of the finish.
CarolKaryl, is the collaboration of two artists, Carol Ware and Karyl Dokos, who make jewelry, draw, paint and sculpt. Both make jewelry from non-precious, non-traditional materials. Both find inspiration in the transformation of common materials to a beautiful object to be worn. Carol often uses acrylic, recycled paper, and metals, while Karyl likes experimenting with textiles, fibers and various mixed media. Sometimes they work separately, and periodically they design and make things together. They have been friends for 20 years and thought it would be fun to blog together about their work, lives and interests. Check out the CarolKaryl store at the Big Cartel.
